GotGot — Help & User Guide

Everything below also lives inside the app, under Settings → User guide. GotGot works fully offline and keeps your data on your device — there’s no account and nothing to sign in to.

The basics

Got, Dups & Needed

Got = you have the item. Dup = a spare copy you can swap away. Needed = you don’t have it yet. Together they’re your live swap list. The counter at the top shows your Got out of the collection total.

Turning on editing

Editing is locked by default, so you can browse without changing anything by accident. Tap the padlock to switch editing on — you’ll see “Editing on — tap to add, long-press to remove”.

Marking an item

With editing on, tap a Needed item to mark it Got. Tap a Got item again to add a Dup (a spare) — each tap adds one more, and a message confirms your running total.

Fixing a mistake

Long-press an item to step its count back down: it removes a spare, and once there are no spares left it goes back to Needed.

All vs Dups view

Use the toggle at the bottom to switch between your whole collection (All) and just your spares (Dups). In Dups view, tapping manages spares only.

Your collections

Keeping more than one collection

Keep as many collections as you like — for example one per child. Switch between them from the collection name at the top, or manage them all under Collections.

Adding a collection

Choose “New collection”, pick a template you own, and give it a name. Your free demo collection is there from the start, so you can try everything straight away.

Getting more albums

Browse and unlock more albums from Settings → “Get more templates”. Each is a one-time purchase through the App Store — no subscriptions. Once you own an album you can create as many collections from it as you like. Bought albums show as “Owned”; “Restore purchases” brings them back on a new phone.

Swapping

How matching works

On the Swap tab, GotGot compares your spares against what another collector needs and shows you the best trade. You each tick what actually changes hands, then confirm.

With another app user (fastest)

One of you picks “Show code” and the other “Scan code”. Scanning opens the “Agree swap” list — tick the items, then “Confirm” to apply it (or “Save pending” for later). Not in the same room? Use “Copy code” to send your code across and let them scan the image.

With someone who doesn’t have the app

You don’t both need the app. Tap “Manual swap” on the Swap tab to open “Create manual swap”, then tick what you receive and what you hand over and confirm. There’s no matching here — you just record the trade as you make it in person.

Sharing your list as text

To sort a swap by message first, tap the list icon on your collection to copy or screenshot your Needs, Dups or Full list as plain text — nothing needed at their end.

Reviewing and cancelling swaps

Saved and completed swaps live in the inbox — the “Swap deals” screen, reached from the inbox icon on the Swap tab. Filter by Pending, Completed or Deleted. Open a pending deal to “Complete swap”, or “Delete deal” to cancel it and free the reserved items back up.

Your data & privacy

Offline and private

Everything works fully offline and stays on your device, in the app’s own private storage. There’s no sign-up, we run no servers, and we collect no data — the only time a connection is used is to buy an album through the App Store. See our privacy policy for the detail.

Copying a collection to another device

Device sync copies a collection from one phone to another — for a new phone, or simply to sync between different devices. Go to Settings → “Device sync”, pick “Show my code” on the phone that has the collection and “Scan a code” on the other — nothing leaves your phones. Do this once per collection. Note: pending swaps aren’t carried over, so finish or clear them first.
